First Ever Country Market in Stanley A Success

The first ever Country Market in Stanley went off without a hitch, even the sun came out for most of the day after over 2 weeks of cloudy days.

With such vendors as Silver Valley Farms, Urqhart Sausage & BBQ, Jewelery vendors, Richie's BBQ & Donair, Henna, Fur-N-Things, M&M Woodcraft, and many more the market truly had something for everyone. Several reoccurring vendors can be seen at the Sunday July 19th market, along with new faces, and new items, including Vibe Jewelery, Yummy Samosas, Sheri-Lynn Burhoe Art, Fullarton's Antiques, Bling it On- Handmade Jewelery, Soaps, & Candles, and Touch of Earth Footwear, are just a few of the names added to the list within just 2 days of the end of the July 5th market.

"People are really excited about it, so I am very pleased. It can be hard to start something new like this in a small community but the people here have really embraced it as their own like I hoped that they would" event organizer Jessika MacKenzie says. The support from the community was great, MacKenzie goes on to say, and "several people have been asking for more markets after the 19th." MacKenzie also says after the July 19th market there are talks to do two more in the fall. "People were really excited to see something like this in their own community, this really is important for Stanley because it has so much to offer and the key is to get people out here to realize it. With the sun that came out it was the perfect day for people to get out and do some shopping right in their own community."

Not only did the market help regional vendors generate revenue from their handmade goods, but it also helped CMT Kareoke contestant Jen Moulton gain support for her upcoming appearance on the show airing October 8th. "Everyone loved her, she was great!" MacKenzie says of the guest singer, "we would love to have her back, along with other musicians who want to have their sound heard at the July 19th date".

In addition The Country Market was attended by the Golden Age Club a local group of seniors raising money for their organization, and Sonya's Gold Canyon Candles, a fundraiser for an Oromocto child in need.
